BCI Seeks Leads for Unsolved Homicide

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost urged those with knowledge of an unsolved case in Columbiana County to come forward with information that could help solve the murder of Melinda L. Todd.

Investigators from my office have worked this case with grim persistence and a person of interest has been identified, Yost said. We believe that there are members of the public with details pertaining to the case now is the time to come forward and hold this killer accountable.

Todd, 43, of Salem, was found dead in her home on Dec. 3, 2012, alongside her 5-year-old grandson, Cole Reed, who was severely injured. It was later determined that both had been beaten with a blunt instrument inside their State Route 45 residence in Salem Township. Reed had to undergo several surgeries and months of physical therapy because of his wounds.

The Ohio Attorney Generals Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been working on the case with officials from Columbiana County, including the sheriffs office and prosecutors office.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call BCI at 855-BCI-OHIO (855-224-6446) or submit a tip online www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov.
