Restaurant Inspections

Welcome to the Circleville Online home for Circleville and Pickaway restaurant inspections performed by the Pickaway County General Health District. Food establishments are required to be inspected two to four times per year. Data for all inspections and additional details can be found at the Pickaway County General Health District website.

According to a 2008 study, food-borne diseases cause 76 million illnesses in the U.S. each year, and almost half of all money spent on food is spent in restaurants. Restaurant inspections are a critical public health intervention for the prevention of food-borne disease.

In the same study, of 2000 respondents, 97% were aware that restaurants are inspected regularly by the health department. More than half of the respondents believed that inspections should be performed at least 12 times per year. Ohio only requires two.
