Former treasurer of Circleville Girls Softball charged with felony theft

5/23/2019 CIRCLEVILLE - A Circleville man appeared in Circleville Municipal Court yesterday on a summons for a felony theft charge. Joshua Peters is the former treasurer of Circleville Girls Softball League Inc, and he’s being accused of taking $8,882.75 between April 26, 2018 and April 22, 2019 over 45 bank card transactions.

New Holland makes case against fired officer

It has been widely reported that Charles Mick was terminated from the Village of New Holland as a police sergeant in July of 2018 in retaliation for filing charges against his superiors; however, the attached documents provide evidence and make assertions that it was in fact Mick who was retaliating against village officials for not making him the next Chief of Police.

South Central Power Company to Construct New Headquarters Facility in Lancaster

Lancaster, Ohio, May 20, 2019 – South Central Power Company today announced plans to consolidate three central Ohio facilities into a single location in the Rock Mill Industrial Park in Lancaster, with a projected opening in 2021. Staff from the electric cooperative’s existing offices in Lancaster, Canal Winchester and Circleville will relocate to the new facility, creating a combined workforce of around 180.

New Holland fires Mick again

5/14/2019 NEW HOLLAND - In July of 2018, the Village of New Holland Council was in the process of firing Sgt. Brad Mick when he presented charges against Mayor Clair “Butch” Betzko and acting police chief David Conrad. He alleged that they conspired to forge outgoing Police Chief Jason Lawless’s signature on paperwork bound for the Attorney General’s office.

5/7/2019 CIRCLEVILLE - In 1983, incumbent Democratic Circleville Mayor John Jenkins was challenged by Republican Wilton E. (Bud) Christopher. The race was close, very close. At the end of November 8th, Jenkins had received 1721 votes and Christopher took 1720, according to a series of Circleville Herald articles published that year.

Pickaway County Family YMCA holds adult dodgeball tournament

Eight teams signed up to play with about 40 total players. Each team played 3 round robin games, then played in a single elimination tournament.

Are back taxes owed on Barthelmas Park Expansion?

We looked at the purchase contract and noticed that it doesn’t list a property description or a timeline, 2 required attributes of all real estate purchase contracts. We were able to pull the parcel number from a grant agreement between the City and the Pickaway Parks District.

There is not a specific date on the signatures and the closing date is in the past.

Grant funding for Barthelmas Park expansion to happen over 5 years

Yesterday, we made a post about some discrepencies in how the funding for the Barthelmas Park expansion was being communicated and how the funding was actually going to work. Last month, the City announced that it would be purchasing 20 acres to expand Barthelmas Park. In the meantime, the City has also announced that it would be laying off part time fire fighters, not filling a full time fire fighter position to be vacated in June, and unfunding 2 unfilled positions in the police department.

Car collides with 2 horse drawn buggies east of Laurelville

3/11/2019 LAURELVILLE - Several sources are reporting that a 17 year old male driving a 2003 BMW sedan collided with a buggy last night around 9:45 PM, just east of Laurelville in Hocking County. The rear buggy then struck a carriage in front of it, causing both to go off the right side of the road.

Thompson announces campaign for State Representative race in 2020
