Car collides with 2 horse drawn buggies east of Laurelville

LAURELVILLE - Several sources are reporting that a 17 year old male driving a 2003 BMW sedan collided with a buggy last night around 9:45 PM, just east of Laurelville in Hocking County. The rear buggy then struck a carriage in front of it, causing both to go off the right side of the road. Lizzie H. Hershberger, 22, was flown to Grant Medical Center, and 25-year-old Mary H. Hershberger was taken to Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan. One of the horses was killed immediately in the crash. Roman H. Hershberger, 23, David H. Herberger, 21, and Ervin H. Hershberger, 17 were also in the buggies, but according to reports, were not injured.

The incident occured on State Route 180 near Defenbaugh Road.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
